When learners have ownership of their e-Portfolio, they become more invested in it. They have a sense of ownership and pride in their work. Ownership transforms the way we view, interact, and engage with something. Every learner needs a safe place to take risks, thinking critically, and gaining problem solving skills. The ePortfolio has the potential to be that place and space for learning where there is just enough structure so learners feel free and safe to explore their idea thoughts and discussions. This helps students make better connections with the world around them. Ownership also allows the learner to personalize their portfolios with their own goals, personality, and interests. This helps them gain a deeper understanding of their strengths, and what they need to improve.
I love being part of a program that promotes choice and ownership, along with voice and authority. Having multiple eyes on the projects to ensure my success is part of getting constructive criticism so I can deliver the best I can do. This program was designed for learners to take ownership by allowing us to use our voice to display our thoughts and ideas. Check out My Learning Philosophy page to view my goals as an educator.
