ePortfolio - Getting Started

According to Dr. Harapnuik "An eportfolio is not just a digital file cabinet where one show how many dots they have collected– it is domain of one’s own where the student reveals their learning journey and shows through reflection, speculation and documentation all the meaningful connections that they have made." Knowing this makes me very excited to create an ePortfolio. I would love to see my students' work and progress of their learning on ePortfolio. Can't wait to continue growing as an innovative digital learner.

Teaching in a math classroom, I explain to students that when I ask them to show their work, it's not because I am evil and want to create more work for them, but rather see their perspective and their approach to getting to a final result. ePortfolios are that for us. We could display all the data in the world, i.e. how our test scores showed X% improvement in a topic, but understanding the why it happened the way it did, the why behind what we do what we do, and the way behind the data not just being a fluke can have larger impact.
